Express yourself freely on Twitter but write your tweets in an easy-to-read fashion. I want to read your tweet which is why I’m following you. Make it easy for me to filter your tweet and pay attention to it. It’s easier to understand you if you’re writing clean tweets.
The term “clean tweets” is that I call tweets that are easy to read and simple to understand. I recently asked my Twitter followers if they are more likely to read a tweet if it’s clean and there was 100% consensus in favour of the idea.
I think that the easiest tweets to read are the 5-10 word sentences. The logical opposite would be that the most confusing tweets are full of messiness.
Here are a few tips to keep your Twitter tweets clean.
(1) Limit your use of the hashtag. Seeing too many of #these #can #turn #people #off.
(2) Don’t use an excessive number of abbreviations
(3) Checking your spelling and grammar is helpful. Yes, we all make typos and leave out words from time to time but it’s something to be aware of.
That’s it. Nothing major. Just something to think about.
