It's highly important to reach your target audience. It is far better to attract people of your target audience than try to reach out to everyone, because that will fail you.

Social networking is such a cheap and easy way of marketing your products, and you can target it to a particular audience and it promotes your product, gets you recognised and trusted.

Great post, thanks for sharing. You seem to know what you're talking about and have a great understanding of it all.

I have to agree with this! Ive seen quite a few Facebook accounts of companies that have become dormant, mostly because they don't know what to do with them.

The sad thing is that the everyday users perceive the companies with such accounts as being lazy or incompetent as they don't do anything with their account.

Generally, B2B don't need to bother with the social media markets because they forget about their target audience. If the average end-user on Twitter isn't who you really want to grab, you're wasting your time. Social media outlets are however key under 2 conditions: a) You want to enhance your web presence b) You have a steady stream of quality, original content to keep audiences interested.

Agreed! Jumping on the bandwagon for what might work (or not) for some businesses is a mistake and a waste of time. Every business has its own specific set of circumstances and needs and each business owner should create an integrated marketing strategy that is best suited for him/her. This is not an easy task and might take some trial and error, but as you say, there is no one-size-fits-all and there is no miracle cure.

Thanks for sharing your insights!
